Revd David O'Brien

David lives in Blackpool with his wife Alison and son Josh, where he is the vicar of St Thomas’ church. He writes: “In my misspent youth as a skinhead and into the Punk Rock scene I had a very dramatic and unexpected experience of the Holy Spirit, but it still took me 3 years to get connected with a church. Ever since, I have longed for ordinary people in their localities to experience the life changing power of the Holy Spirit. At the heart of God’s call to me were the words of Jesus recorded in Luke 4.14-21 where Jesus declared the ‘Year of the Lord’s favour”.

I have been ordained since 2004 and served God in the Diocese of Lichfield and Blackburn, now for the second time.  In every parish where I have ministered it has been wonderful to see God work through ordinary people. This is why it is a privilege to join ReSource in this new phase of ministry encouraging the vision of ‘Churches Alive in the Spirit and Active in Mission’. The best resource we have is the people in ‘little, local, ordinary churches’”.
