The Revd Eleanor Jeans

Eleanor was brought up in a vicarage family and somehow managed to find herself joining the family ‘business’ in 2011. Prior to ordination, she trained as a professional violinist at the Royal Northern College of Music. After a few years of freelancing and teaching, Eleanor began working for Holy Trinity Platt as a schools’ and children’s worker. During this time, she developed a musical for primary schools called ‘This Man Called Jesus’ which was published by Bible Reading Fellowship in 2004.

Music and worship have always been close to Eleanor’s heart and she moved to Emmanuel Loughborough as Director of Music in 2005. Four years later, however, Eleanor began training for ordination at Ridley Hall, Cambridge where she particularly enjoyed directing the Gospel Choir.  Eleanor served her curacy in the Cornerstone Team, Leicester, where she grew a passion for outreach through music by setting up a Community Gospel Choir. She then moved to be Associate Vicar at the Church of Christ the King, Kettering (Peterborough Diocese) for eight years, where she was involved in schools' ministry. worship leading and became involved with Re-Source as a trustee.

Eleanor moved in 2023 to take up the role of Associate Vicar at St Paul's, Leamington Spa (Coventry Diocese). She is involved in overseeing the youth and children's ministry team, the musical worship and a creative team as well as the usual vicary-type things. St Paul's is a Mission Hub in the diocese and Eleanor is currently working on leading a Myriad learning community with lay leaders looking at starting New Worshipping Communities. Externally, Eleanor really enjoys her role with ReSource but is also involved in a CPAS schools' venture and recently began some broadcasting work with BBC Radio 4.

Eleanor is the author of Securely Single, a video-based course written especially for Christians who are single, launched in May 2021. The course helps single Christians discuss the positives and negatives of the single life and encourages everyone to be content in every and any circumstance (Phil 4:11-13). The material is suitable for personal study or for small groups. Full details at www.securelysingle.co.uk
